Gatsby Glitz
Interested in planning a glamorous, vintage, and indulgent event with festive cheer thrown in? Transport your guests to the opulent and timeless world of the Roaring Twenties with a Great Gatsby-themed party. Inspired by the 1925 iconic novel written by F. Scott Fitzgerald, this theme combines the glitz, glamour, and sophistication of the Jazz Age.
Here are some top tips to help you capture the spirit of a 1920s Christmas party:
- Consider incorporating a black and gold colour scheme with metallic accents, chandeliers, and feather centrepieces.
- Include a photo booth with suitable props so guests can capture fun memories of the occasion.
- Vintage cars can be a great addition, either as part of the decor or as a fantastic photo opportunity.
- A dance floor is an absolute must to get your guests moving and shaking to the energetic music of the Jazz Age.
- Request a suitable dress code, such as flapper dresses, dapper suits, feather boas, headbands, long beads, and fedoras, so everyone looks the part.
- A live band can also really bring your Gatsby Glitz event to life, and The Wild Tonics is a perfect choice, offering a classic Gatsby 1920s-themed show. With stunning vocals, impressive outfit changes, and a variety of current and classic hits, this group is perfect for transporting your guests back to the golden age of speakeasies and swing.
Winter Woodland
Seeking to immerse your guests in the enchanting beauty of the outdoors at Christmas? A winter woodland theme is the perfect choice. Bring a sprinkle of rustic charm and winter wonder for an event that is warm, inviting, and, above all, memorable.
Here are some suggestions for organising your winter woodland experience:
- Opt for an earthy colour scheme of rich browns, dark greens, soft whites, and sparkling silvers.
- Hang soft white fairy lights and add frosted foliage to truly immerse your guests in the theme. Also consider ambient lighting from lanterns and candles to convey a captivating forest glow.
- Incorporate wood and other natural materials into your decorations, such as long wooden tables, moss, and pinecones.
- Add festive props, such as snow-covered trees, rustic wooden signage, and toadstools, to really bring your woodland to life.
- Consider hiring walkabout entertainment, bringing interactive characters to your event. For instance, The Enchanted Snow Globe will create a sense of surprise, magic, and enchantment as it moves about your event, interacting with guests in a full-detailed costume.
Traditional Christmas
Some things never go out of style, and the traditional Christmas theme is a classic for a reason. Bringing together all the timeless elements that make us feel nostalgic, warm, and sentimental, it encapsulates the joy and sparkle of the Christmas season and appeals to all ages.
Here are some ways to inject your event with a traditional Christmas feel:
- Choose a colour palette of bright red, green, and gold, accompanied by warm lighting.
- Embellish the venue with all of the elements you would expect to see at a classic Christmas party, such as wreaths, candles, and fairy lights.
- Play crowd-pleasing Christmas songs, or consider hiring carol singers, to get your guests in the mood.
- Consider sprinkling your venue with fake snow, glitter, holly leaves, and ivy.
- Of course, a traditional Christmas party would not be complete without a Christmas tree covered in bright decorations and lights.
But, to make your event truly unique, consider hiring interactive entertainment with walkabout act Christmas Trees. This duo hide in plain sight before jumping to life, talking, singing, and delivering Christmas cheer. A fun talking point, these person-operated trees add a touch of mischief and surprise to your event.
Christmas Carnival
If you’re in the mood for something a little bit different, why not host a carnival-inspired event? Ideal if you are looking for a lively concept with playfulness, interactivity, and energy.
Below are some ideas on how to create your own festive fairground:
- Insert entertainment stations such as popcorn machines, candy floss carts, mulled wine stands, and photo booths with silly props.
- For the venue decor, think about using bold and bright colours, Christmas bunting, and striped canopies to really convey the carnival feel to your guests.
- Add some fun and games to your party, such as hook-a-bauble (a fun take on Hook-a-Duck), ring toss, and a candy cane treasure hunt.
- If the venue and your budget allow, funfair rides can be a fantastic addition, such as the classic carousel or a helter-skelter ride.
- Face painters are great for adding sparkle and laughs, perfect for younger guests (as well as those young at heart!)
- Add some exciting, eye-catching street performers to transform your carnival from a good event to a great one. For instance, Bruce Airhead — a comedy performance of a man and his giant balloon — and Man in a Box — a silent clown who, quite literally, fits into a box and hilariously scuttles through the crowd — are both excellent options.
Snow and Ice Spectacle
Embrace the crispness of winter with a snow and ice-themed event and create a magical frozen wonderland. This theme is great for evoking an atmosphere of serenity, luxury, and elegance.
Here’s how to capture the right essence for your snow and ice event:
- Incorporating a minimalistic colour scheme works well, such as pristine whites, light blues, and shimmering silvers to reflect the cold and icy winter season.
- For decor, consider glass centrepieces, white LED lights, and frosted glass to deliver an icy effect through the venue.
- Add embellishments of glittering snowflakes, frosted branches, white faux fur, crystal icicles or chandeliers, and perhaps even an ice sculpture.
- Set a dress code of white, blue, silver, and metallic tones. Think sequins, flowing gowns and tailored suits, crystal jewellery, and sparkling headpieces.
- For drinks, consider signature cocktails with snowy themes, and consider garnishing with elements such as edible silver leaves or sugared citrus for a frosty finish.
- Add a magical touch with acts such as Calvos, a premier, boutique stilt-walking duo that brings a mesmerising and otherworldly sparkle as they wander around your event. The perfect accompaniment for an ethereal theme, they add height, elegance, and a captivating presence that truly brings the snow and ice fantasy to life.
